Watching global events through the lens of Scripture and prayer.

Preamble

Our own lives may feel quiet, even ordinary, yet the daily news is a steady reminder that the world beyond our door is anything but. Pain and suffering, at times beyond comprehension, mark the age we live in. Scripture speaks directly into this reality. In Ephesians 6:18, we are urged to pray always in the Spirit, with all perseverance and supplication, and to do so watchfully, especially on behalf of believers everywhere. That word "watchfully" carries more weight than it might first appear. It comes from the Greek agrupneo, meaning to stay awake, to be sleepless; a picture of someone who refuses to be caught off guard. It is a call to spiritual vigilance. To alertness. To a prayerfulness that does not drift. In a world that never seems to rest from its troubles, let us be faithful to pray. Only the past six days' posts will be listed.
