Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope is NASA's upcoming infrared space observatory, scheduled to launch by 2027, designed to study dark energy, exoplanets, and infrared astrophysics with a field of view about 100 times larger than the Hubble Space Telescope's.

It carries a 2.4-meter primary mirror (same size as Hubble's) but with the Wide Field Instrument providing a much wider survey capability, plus a Coronagraph Instrument for direct exoplanet imaging. Named after NASA's first chief astronomer, often called the "Mother of Hubble," it will conduct large-scale surveys including the High Latitude Wide Area Survey for dark energy and cosmology, micro-lensing surveys for exoplanets, and time-domain astronomy.
