Michael Gorman's Cruciformity argues that Paul's spirituality is fundamentally a Spirit-enabled participation in the self-giving, cross-shaped life of Christ, which reshapes believers and communities in the pattern of the crucifixion. Cruciformity is Gorman's term for conformity to the crucified Christ — a participation in the very life of the God who is revealed as self-giving, others-oriented love in the cross.

Michael J. Gorman is a leading New Testament scholar specialising in Pauline theology. He holds the Raymond E. Brown Chair in Biblical Studies and Theology at St. Mary's Seminary & University in Baltimore, Maryland, where he has taught since 1991. He earned his Ph.D. cum laude in New Testament from Princeton Theological Seminary (1989).
